Bird birth control

It seems our city has been feeding birth control pills to the pigeons in an effort to control their population.  They started last May and are awaiting the results.

Linking to Gillena's Sunday Smiles.

  2. There are lots of pigeons over here too. We call them flying rats...sometimes they can be quite annoying.

  7. Just so long as other, less numerous birds, don't get hold of them . . .

  8. Jabblog I got this from another newspaper article 'When asked how he can be sure that the pill isn’t eaten by other birds, Wolf said the larger size of the kibble, and the high location of the feeders, attract only pigeons.'

  10. Pigeons (rock doves) spend most of their times on roof tops where few other birds go...maybe crows.

  11. Hopefully this will bring the numbers down, but it seems kind of unfair to the pigeon population and better for the human population. I guess.

  14. I'd not heard of that, but pigeons can be quite a problem.
It will be interesting to see if it helps.

  18. We really need this because our pigeon population is absolutely out of control. It doesn't help that people feed them.
