Violets are Blue Card

Hello fellow crafters and flower lovers!   I am so excited and honored to be a part of the ever-so-talented Beautiful Blossoms Challenge Blog for 2024!   I chose to draw some violets for this first card tutorial post.

For those of you who are interested in this card I will share with you my list of supplies used.  I used the violets I drew for this occasion, Hammermill® 100lb. White Coverstock,  Core'dinations® Celestial from my stash, Blue Pathways from my stash, Silver Mirrored Foil cardstock from my stash, and a scrap of the Celestial and colored it with COPIC® BV04.

As for the dies I used- I was blessed with some new dies from my brother and his wife for Christmas- they work perfectly for this card.  Hying Flower Leaves Frame Die was the larger die and Amazon -Metal Nested Cutting Dies are the two small pieces.  The embellishments I used are: Nuvo® Crystal Drops- Morning Dew, Nuvo® Glitter Drops- White Blizzard, Studio G® - Green Glitter Drops,  VersaMagic® - Aegean Blue and Silver Baker's Twine. You will need a small paint brush to apply the Glitter glues.   The adhesives I used are:  Elmer's® Craft Bond Spray, EZ-Tear® Tape, Bearly Art® Precision Glue and Foam Tape.

Come along as I walk you through this card step by step...

I started this card using my new sketch "Violets are Blue", sizing it to 3-3/4"x 3-3/4".  Copied and pasted a second image.  Printed on Hammermill®   100lb. White Coverstock.

You may have a flower you desire to use instead.

However, you can purchase this set- Violets are Blue 5105- at Jan's Digis on Etsy.

You can color your images as desired.

I chose to use COPIC® Markers to color mine.
I used BV00, BV02, BV04 and Multiliner Lavender to color the petals with YG01 on the inner part of the petal as shown.

I used Y00 and an orange x-fine Sharpie® to color the stamen.

Fussy Cut your images as shown.

After fussy cutting my images, I applied Nuvo® Glitter Drops - White Blizzard with a small brush to the flower petals from the petal edge flicking in towards the center of each flower.  Apply to both images.   LET DRY!

Brush on the Studio G® - Green Glitter Drops to the leaves from the outer edge flicking in towards the center as shown.

I then applied Nuvo® Crystal Drops- Morning Dew to the flower centers as a small tear drop shaped dot.    LET DRY!!

I then cut one of my "Hying Flower Leaves Frame Die" using Hammermill® 100lb. White Coverstock.

I then cut two (2) of the center of my Amazon - Metal Nested Cutting Dies.

I chose to color the Leaves of the “Hying Flower Leaves Frame Die” cut using my COPIC® YG61 and Yg63 as shown.

Cut a 5" x 7" Core'dinations® Celestial Rectangle and edge using Versamagic®- Aegan Blue.

Cut a 4" x 5-1/2" rectangle of the Blue Pathways, center and adhere the Core'dinations® Celestial leaving the upper left corner loose and the lower right corner loose.

Using Elmer's® Craft Bond Spray, lightly spray the backside of the "Hying Flower Leaves Frame Die" cut and adhere at a slight angle.

Slide one of the Amazon - Metal Nested Cutting Die cuts under the 4"x 5-1/2" Blue Pathways upper left corner of the rectangle and one under the lower right corner as shown.

Using Foam Tape, align and adhere the small fussy cut of flowers to the full main image.  Apply and adhere the full violets image to the cardfront  as shown.
Using EZ-Tear® Tape adhere the card front to the 5"x 7" cardbase.  Make sure the fold is on the left.
I like to decorate the backside of my cards.  As an OPTION - use a couple of scraps from the materials used to make the card and a name plaque and arrange.  Adhere to the backside as shown.

Using Silver Baker's twine to wrap 2x around the cardbase at the fold.  Tie a bow.
Using Silver Mirrored Foil cardstock cut a sentiment of your choosing.   I chose "Thinking of You".

I hope you enjoyed my inspirational creation for Beautiful Blossoms.  I invite you to join us each 15th of the month for a FUN challenge and some creative floral inspiration.  I will be posting new card tutorials on Blogger moving forward.  Please Follow my new Blog on Blogger!
