Fabric was picked out for the newest block of NYB – after I picked this lot out I decided the multi color on the outer edge was going to be too much for this block and picked out a gray instead.

I worked on the block and thought I was finished until I went to put it on the wall in place and realized I made a mistake. I have to take the outer piece off and put a new one down in place of it – Then cut the curve after it is pressed and squared up. It doesn’t look like a big curve but I was to reverse the template for this block and I didn’t and it really makes a difference. This is the mistake

From the back – totally wrong as you can see. I actually had an extra gray cut out so I was able to just grab the new one and will fix it today. Linking to Confessions of a Fabric Addict— Alycia Quilts —

While the evening news was on I got more hexie flowers thread basted and did change out colors a little bit – I have a green set picked out too and need to change out the center on it.

Quilting on Hunter’s Star from Wednesday.

It got up to 40 degrees yesterday and a lot of the snow melted, but last night was to get in the 20’s again so all the melted snow on the deck will be slick and the roadways might be too. It is to stay cold Friday to Sunday I think then finally in the 50’s but rain every day next week I think. You can’t win LOL I know a lot of you have had much colder weather than we have though and a lot more snow – I hope it gets better for everyone soon.

At least you were able to fix the NYB block without searching for a different fabric. It turned out beautifully. Compared to most of last week, yesterday was so nice. Now we are back to having all the cabinet doors open and dribbling the water in the sinks along the outside wall. We may get freezing rain on Monday morning. Stay warm and happy stitching.
Be careful on the slick ice today. The new block is wonderful. Such pretty colors. I’ve been fighting an eye infection this week, still waiting on new drops. Ugh!
Glad you are able to figure it all out on NYB. I would have to go pour a glass of wine and tackle it the next day – lol! I love those colors.
I wonder if all your snow will melt, with this new cold front coming in. We sure enjoyed the sun yesterday, but it is cold again today.
Oh, that is too bad about the correction you need on the NYB block! At least it is the outside piece and not an inner section. You’ve been amazing about sticking with these complicated blocks! We had about one and a half nice days, and then a cold front came back through yesterday afternoon. More snow was predicted, but we didn’t get any. I guess we just have to keep reminding ourselves that it’s January!
Dear Karen,
NYB is a fun way to do paper piecing, this always happens to me, the piece do not fit. Then it needs to be removed and replaced. Yours is looking great. Hopefully warmer weather will arrive soon.
I love your different work. I also like to alternate like you do.
Your NYB block is gorgeous.
With using batiks couldn’t you have just turned it to the other side or wasn’t the curved angle in the right spot then?
It would so easy to reverse that piece. It is snowing here, but the temperature is 33, so it’s not sticking. I’m enjoying watching the snow, but glad it won’t stick around.
I’m glad it is you and not me making the NYB. I can enjoy all the colors from afar and it is a beauty.
Lots of lovely work happening there! Great job!
Your block turned out beautiful and I’m sure you’ll have that mistake corrected in a jiffy. I’m glad you had another piece you could use. I like the gray on the outside. Your weather sounds much like ours. It started dropping last night and won’t get above freezing until Sunday afternoon, then 50s to 70 and rain starting Tuesday on! It took into the third day before the ice melted up on my hill! Have a great weekend.
Our weather is flattening out – cold but no wind. Still under 20°. Still cutting up neck ties, seemed like a good idea when I started. Now it’s just boring. I just keep remembering the men that wore them.
I love that block and really love the red fabric in it!
