Sentimental You! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's yours truly's turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Sentimental You!" which means I would like to see your project with a sentiment as the focus or a large sentiment.

Interrupting the post for a minute to say I sure shouldn't have shook my fist at Mother Nature last week.  Coz she was all like, "You want snow?  I'll give you snow!"  So, starting Friday afternoon of last week until early Monday morning, she delivered the snow, with high winds and it was fairly nasty out.  This week thus far has been COLD with temps of -20ºC including the windchill. Oh look, and it's snowing pretty good right now too. Yeah, sorry Ontario.  Clearly my fault.

Back to the challenge post!  This is what I did.....

I used the same cover plate die as I used last week (as it was still out and handy) and used a new die to cut the sentiment (cut multiple times with once being from fun foam for  extra dimension).  Added some bells and enamel dots and done!  Wait.  I just had a realization about something.  I used the cover plate die to cut this from both red and white cardstock.  Then I painstakingly put all the red cardstock little inside pieces into the white die cut (which I do find satisfying).....and then mounted it all on a red cardstock base, which negated the need to add in all the red inside pieces.  D'oh!

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

  1. Beautiful monochrome card love the bells and dies-at least you got the extra layers with adding all the bits back in.

  2. Stunning Jan, love it! I just spotted it over at Word Power and it certainly caught my eye! Well worth the effort, though of course some of that effort wasn't necessary in the end anyway because you mounted it on red card stock! I want (need) that background die - makes me think of candy canes and the North Pole!
P.S. Thanks for sharing it with The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge!

  3. Fabulous Christmas card. Paper piecing can be satisfying and frustrating at the same time too. Definitely worth the effort. Cute touch with the jingle bells! So happy you played along with the Christmas challenge with the Krafty Chicks this week.

  4. Beautiful card, Jan! And I don't know, I think putting the red cuts back in made the red stand out more against the white. If you hadn't of done that, the red would be recessed a bit with shadow. Love how you did the sentiment and those bells and twine are THE perfect finishing touches. Like your new photo on Little Red Wagon, too. Stay warm, my friend!

  10. Thought I commented on this card already but maybe I meant to and didn't get to it... as I don't see my comment. Anyway, such a beautifully designed card, love the red and white color combo and the little bells are such a fun addition! Thank you so much for joining in at my Crafty Wednesday challenge and also at Allsorts last week!

  13. Those bells are the perfect way to embellish your fabulous card! And layering in those pieces provides a different look, even if the colours would have been the same with the layering. Awesome card!

Lots of snow here too. Please make amends with Mother Nature. I've had enough.

  14. I LOVE this card! That sentiment is wonderful and so beautifully accessorized. As for the cover plate, I'm with Shani, I love the way it looks all pretty pieced like that. Stay warm!

Okay, so ever since I started my blog (well, maybe not right from the get-go, it was probably a good six months or so before I realized you could change it from just "Leave your comment") I've tried to come up with something witty to type here.

*sitting with brow furrowed in concentration*...*staring at the ceiling while pursing lips*...*resting with head on hand while tapping foot*...

Nope, I still got nothing.
