Sweet Ice Cream Birthday Card for the Alphabet Challenge

Sweet Ice Cream Birthday Card by Secrets To Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Alphabet Challenge is starting today, and the theme is “I is for Ice Cream” – isn’t this one perfect for the summer we’re having right now?? I don’t know where you are (but please tell me in a comment!) but not many of us can complain about not having a summer this year. I resisted the ice cream bundle in the current SU catalog but found a bundle in my retired stash. So, I used the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set with its coordinating punch for this challenge.

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this A2 card started with white cardstock, cut at 11″ x 4-1/4″ and scored at 5-1/2.”
  • After that, I cut the two designer papers from the Bright & Beautiful paper pack (the solid was cut to 5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″ and the patterned piece to 5″ x 3-3/4″). Then, I adhered them together and added it to the card base.

And now, the fun part!

  • Once that was done, I took a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock and scored a section of it on the 1/8″ marked, both vertically and horizontally. Then, I cropped it out at an angle to look like a waffle cone and lightly rubbed Crumb Cake ink over the score lines to give them some definition.
  • After that, I punched out the two scoops of ice cream from the solid Lemon Lime Twist designer paper that was used on the background panel.
  • Then, I stamped the Cheerful Daisies sentiment in Berry Burst ink and cut out the panel with the Radiating Stitches die.
  • After that, I adhered it to Berry Burst cardstock (2-3/4″ x 4-1/8″).
  • I decided I needed to add another panel of Berry Burst, so cut the cardstock to 3-7/8″ x 1-1/2″ and added the Berry Burst designer paper on top (3-3/4″ x 1-3/8″). Then, I adhered it to the card base.
  • After tying a bow with the Organza Ribbon, I popped it up with dimensionals onto the card base.
  • Once that was done, I popped the cone over the ribbon with dimensionals and the two scoops of ice cream over that.
  • Finally, I added the Tinsel Gems for a touch of bling.

Then, on the inside…

  • So, the inside is kept rather simple – just adding more of the designer paper (same size as the front) and cut white cardstock with the Deckled Rectangle die.
  • Then, I stamped the ice cream and cone in the middle and added the sentiment.

I’m sharing my card with these challenges:
