Yesterday I fairly zipped through putting the blocks together for Rainbow Crossings and the top is done and ready for the quilting frame when Butterflies in Flight is taken off of it in a couple weeks to a month. And thank you to Sandra – no blog – for letting me know that in the last border I was working on I had a crossed canoe block turned the wrong way – this was luckily before I had stitched it and then when I looked at the opposite side of the border I notice I had placed one of them wrong also – they all were to point a certain direction. I was able to make the fix and still get done! If you ever see one of my blocks turned the wrong way please let me know – it is possible it is intentional – but most times it is not. And from a different angle

Next up on the wall for a finish will be the RSC quilt Arkansas Traveler – yes the window was open last night for awhile – it got up to 70 degrees yesterday – big jump from the 0.1 temperature we had last week!!

the last time I showed Arkansas Traveler was in September just before we left on a short vacation – it has not been touch since. I will get it back up on the wall and make about (this is an estimate) 12 more blocks I think and see what the size will be – I want it also to be about 100 x 100 like most of my big quilts are – I didn’t back up and get a complete shot and one row was let off so here are two photos.

I have more RSC tops from 2022 that need to be finished, some will continue on with blocks of the chosen color added each month – I’m not sure about all of them – like this one I might just select colors myself to finish it up. I didn’t keep up with the RSC quilts after September as shortly after we got home from our vacation we both had a stomach bug and then one thing or another just kept me from it and I decide to work just on the Rainbow Crossings quilt and finish that one up so I would have a top done to put on the frame when the current quilt comes off – and I made it!

Quilting on Butterflies in Flight from Wednesday night

The wrist is much better and still wearing a brace off and on but not all day now and able to quilt again.

After I rolled it down to get ready to quilt you could see that this is what is left to do.

The Amaryllis grew about 2 inches from the previous day – it is now through the circle of the support!

And as it got up to 70 degrees yesterday afternoon I just had to sit outside for a little bit with a new gardening catalog – roses – to dream a little and decide what new bushes I want to add to around the garden fence this year. We are to get rain now off and on for about 5 days with temperatures up and down in the high 50’s to mid 60’s I doubt we will hit another 70 degree day this winter but sure was nice while it lasted.

Thank you to all that have been taking advantage of the end of the year sales I do appreciate your support.

Nice to finish up some of your quilt tops for the RSC. The butterflies in flight quilt looks good…nearing completion. Our temps are above freezing now so the snow is melting. We may get rain for the next couple of days . Happy new year
Rainbow Crossings looks great. It will make such a nice quilt. Love seeing Arkansas Traveler up there again. Ah I remember the rose catalogs. I don’t dare look at them any more until Boomer gets out of the ripping and tearing stage. He pretty much destroyed my wisteria. My dream has always been to have roses and wisteria. Sigh. It was 70 here yesterday and we had open windows. That amaryllis is amazing!
I never noticed a block in the wrong direction!! Some people have a great eye for that; glad you got it fixed before you went any further. The top is beautiful! And the amaryllis is amazing!!
I had to go back and look at your photo in yesterday’s post to see if I could tell that one block was turned wrong, and sure enough, there it was! I never noticed it before you said something. Rainbow Crossings looks great! It’s fun to see Arkansas Traveler again – those blocks are really beautiful. I’m carrying over several RSC projects, too – two that need quilting and two that still need blocks sewn together. That’s how the years seem to go sometimes!
It’s definitely been a case of weather whiplash here too. It was below freezing during the weekend and now the temps are in the high 60s. Rainbow Crossings looks great! Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilts are some of my most favorite quilts. Looking forward to seeing Arkansas Traveler come together. Happy stitching this week!
Rainbow Crossings is a beauty! Good catch from Sandra. It’s so easy to get one turned. Nice to see Arkansas Traveler again. And it’s amazing seeing the amaryllis shoot up! 70 degrees sounds lovely! Our temperatures are slowly warming, but I don’t expect to see 70 for quite awhile. We are in the upper 50’s and I have no complaints.
That was a good idea to get one of the quilt tops finished and you have a great start on the others. I wouldn’t have thought about the Crossed Canoes block being turned wrong so I’m glad someone else spotted it.
3 different blocks. 1 lovely quilt! Happy New year.
Butterflies in Flight almost complete and another quilt to take its place! That’s awesome! I’m glad you spotted the “oops”. I always worry about that. I had it happen a long time ago and the top got all the way to the long arm quilter. She was a friend and graciously picked it apart and fixed it! I was ever so thankful!
I love how your rainbow crossings blocks go into the border. Seeing how everyone sets their RSC blocks together is always so fascinating to me, and this ones really special. I’m glad you could enjoy and dream in the warm weather. We are having a bit of a warm spell, too, although not that warm. All of the snow we got with the big storm has melted in one day! (Except for those dirty parking lot piles. Yuck.)
Yay! You met your goal!
Beautiful quilt top! Glad you got the blocks fixed.
Thank you for all the inspiration you’ve shared here on your blog. Your quilts are beautiful, both the RSCs and the EPP.
Happy New Year to you and your family!
Rainbow Crossings turned out great. I absolutely love the way you did the border.
Big progress since I last stopped in! Having a heck of a time catching up. So cool to see another top ready for the quilting frame…it looks great. The weather has been wild from icy cold to nearly spring like. So strange.
What a great rainbow quilt top, Karen! Congrats on getting it together. Happy quilting!
