I got a bit more work done on Rainbow Crossings and selected fabric for the top border on Wednesday night after I had quilted a bit – a shorter spell of quilting as the thumb was hurting a little from the injection but was fine by yesterday morning. For this border I find it helps to pin the selected fabric to the wall – it helps me see how it will look – I’m not always completely happy but sometimes the perfect colors just aren’t in the stash and I use what I have. There isn’t a fabric store to run to at the drop of a pin – well there is Hobby Lobby locally but actually I rarely buy fabric there for some reason – I should probably -occasionally- when I need a certain color look and see if they have t.

I got started sewing some blocks together yesterday afternoon. Maybe I can finish the rest of this border today – I’m leaving the hexies sit for a couple days while I look at color selections and let the thumb continue to take a break – EPP is hard on the sewing hand – sometimes I think harder than the hand quilting – but I started it and I intend to finish it!

The first of the Xmas cookies baked and most put in the freezer – Ginger Cookies – I think the recipe is in the tab at the top.

And the quilting on Butterflies in Flight from Wednesday night – believe me I took my time but still did more than I probably should have – I wore my brace last night. Linking to Wendy’s Quilts and More — Confessions of a Fabric Addict — From Bolt to Beauty —

I love your ginger cookie recipe and make them every Christmas at the very least. When I gave some to my neighbors one year, they fought over the last cookie! So good.
The cookies look delicious. I hope your thumb feels better today. Beautiful quilting.
When you want specific colors in specific places, I think planning like that really helps! I’ve bought fabric at Hobby Lobby – they’ve been good for background fabric and backings – and they do have a fairly good selection of solids. But they moved so far away from us, out to our newer shopping area, that I don’t go there much anymore either. Your ginger cookies look delicious – that’s one of my favorite flavors!
You are doing the exact same thing as me when I audition fabrics. Your cookies remind me on ones my mom always made, hers were molasses cookies but look the same. I might have to try yours.
Karen me encanta ese borde en tus estrellas , se ve maravilloso.
Tus galletas deliciosas

I’m so enjoying seeing Rainbow Crossings coming together. It makes me wish I had a design wall, but the floor is going to have to do for me. I’m glad your thumb is now feeling better.
It looks like you have a good selection of the colors you needed. I used to buy Kona cotton solids at Hobby Lobby but didn’t find much else that interested me. Now I don’t drive that far so I have no idea what they carry.
I made Shortbread cookies and thought about ginger cookies. They might still make it to my list.
Ginger cookies! I need to make some this year. Rainbow Crossings is coming along nicely.
Love the border you’ve decided on for Rainbow Crossings! You continue to just move your projects along each day. Happy stitching this weekend.
That’s a fun border for your Rainbow Crossings quilt, and the stitching for your Butterflies in Flight is darling!
The borders are looking great, as are those cookies! I love seeing your handquilting, but do take it easy with that hand.
