Dark Mixed Media Birthday Card

Another Co-worker birthday is coming up. I sent out the usual questions (that I've been sending to mycoworkers) to see what they'd like on their cards.

  1. Favorite Color(s) or color combo(s)?
  2. Hobbies?
  3. Funny/Punny or Serious?
  4. Pets?  Kids?
  5. Do you collect things, if so, what?
  6. Sports team?
  7. Food?

She replied with:

  1. Black / burnt colors (red/Orange )
  2. I love the outdoors! I am an avid skier and weightlifting
  3. ALL! Lol I have no clue!
  4. I have 1 cat, 1 dog, and a 4 year old boy whose obsessed with dirt bikes
  5. I don’t really collect things… I love spooky things if that’s helps. Lol I have multiple tattoos with stuff like that
  6. N/A
  7. I do love me some chocolate!

Well...I got a bit excited!!  I do not get to do as many darker cards as I'd like, just because I don't know if I'd ever find a home for them.  I don't hang with many people who like the darker side of things.  LOL  So...  I went a bit crazy!

I created my own background paper using cream colored paper, CTMH shimmer pens and a piece of plastic wrap.  I sprinkled/flicked the ink over the plastic wrap and laid/pressed the paper over it.  Then I got the paper a bit damp, rolled it into a ball, flattened it and ran a black stamp pad over the wrinkled marks.  I then cut a slit down the middle (actually, think I was off the center mark a bit...), had to get it wet again down that center in order to bend it enough to glue the zipper onto the torn sides.  I added some grey cheese cloth, a stick pin I made, some roses, a buckle and fun brad w/black ribbon, a scissors charm, some tiny bats, a skull and crossbones and the sentiments.  The picture under the zipper is very similar to the tattoos she has on her legs of her and her sister.  Creepy tat for sure!!

Thanks for looking!
