Skywatch Friday: Grand Prismatic

I'm back in Yellowstone for the summer!  A few nights ago my hubby and I ventured into the park.  Our first stop was the Grand Prismatic Spring.

This is a big turquoise colored pool of water that is normally breathtaking.  It was very cold that evening so we mainly just got to see the steam that rises off of it.  It's still very beautiful though.

There's a overlook on that snow covered hill you see in the background.  Later on in the summer I'll make the hike up there to get some good shots.  That trail is closed right now for bear management.

A few minutes later we got this shot of a huge grizzly that was very near the trailhead for the overlook.  Bear activity is very high in Yellowstone this early in the season.  He is a beauty!

He IS a beauty! That's got to be thrilling to see and photograph a grizzly in his natural environment. So amazing!

Greetings and Salutations! It is one thing to see a grizzly bear and another thing to have a focused photograph of a grizzly bear. We have a cabin up in Northern Wisconsin. We see a lot of black bear. Once a bear tried to take down our mailbox. Was Yogi looking for honey? Or Boo Boo looking for a picnic basket? Another time we had several bears outside the cabin entertained by our garbage cans empty and one bear sitting on top of the pile claiming it all as his/her garbage. Both times I missed the shot. By the time I went into cabin, got the camera it was too late. You are blessed with this shot. Be safe.
