I've never been to Cancun, but I hear it's a tourist town. Also one that caters to college students on spring break. The murals were lovely, though. It looks like you and your "crew" had a great time while you were there.
Were you wishing Sami a happy anniversary or is it yours and Ingo's, too? Very confusing.
In 2003 we also booked a holiday to Cancun, but we hadn't gone anyway ... We rebooked for Tenerife ... close to home! In Artis zoo Amsterdam we have a male olitant named Nikolai ... zo ... Happy anniversary my Hathi and Nikolay! 🐘 🐘 LOL A little big hug for both of you ! xoxo
I had similar feelings to what you described when I was in a small Alaskan village on the Native side of town. The other white people in town were all government officials and they had better conditions to live in. It was definitely a learning experience for me!
Yes, Grace, funny, huh, Sami always reminds me that way! 😁

Elizabeth, uh-oh, Spring brake sure rings a bell - we don´t have that (but something similar) - sad! I luckily was too (whatever) for that.
And yes, Sami, Jose, Ingo and I share the same day 🧡

Ella, Tenerife is where my Brother went - and he got me a T-shirt .. 199..? and I still have it, "Green is as green does" as hommage to Forrest Gump. Silly, are we.
Nikolay, awwww. Guess who got a nickname! 🦋 A little BIG hug to you xoxo ____
Padre, yes, soooo like a light, BOOM.

Shari, I know that feeling. Well, logically ... As in differently. I´ll stop by to learn more...
I would like to do the Mayan Ruins. Not so sure about sitting in the sun all the time as I burn like crazy. But you have good stories, I can tell just from this post. We walked into Tijuana, Mexico once (now that was something not so great), that's it for Mexico for me. At least to date. Happy Monday!
I have never been to Mexico, but my mother went there and bought me a beautiful red wedding dress. It reached my ankles and it was all lace. So beautiful. I wore it a long time, then washed it in the washing machine and it tore. Sad.
Never been down that way, glad you enjoyed it. Rifles would make me nervous too. Reminds me of meeting a guy from the Netherlands a few years back in Letterkenny. A security vehicle showed up to collect money from a bank, you know one of those armed vehicles. Couple of dudes came out with rifles to guard the person who was to collect the money. A simple procedure, but the Netherlands guy totally freaked out and said we don't have that in our country. I just said it's no big deal here, they are just guards. He left and I saw him a few block down the road looking back and taking a photo probably to share the story back hime. :) Enjoy your evening!
Oh, Bill, I do feel with that guy, LOL! It´s not respect, it´s fear. Or both. I knew he was there for "help"! And... I did not dare to take a pic, it´s but in my head... To a cozy evening :-)

William, I´m not so sure in the aftermath, but reckon you´re right!
Amy, yes, there were also nice and friendly people :-)

River, they also were in your home ... as in... Perth. Well, Elmo traveled Australia in 1999, but mostly WA, NT and Outback. That´s where he found Blanket, too! Have you seen the movie The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland? You don´t have... ? What? OK, you live in the most beautiful part of the world anyways!

I recognize your feelings about going to Mexico and being there. I was there in 1976. I love the painting
Cute murals Iris and love the title, so actual!

There is so much more to Mexico than the beach resorts. I love travelling around Mexico. I am missing travel very much.
...it's nice to be warm particularly at this time of year!

Jackie, I bet there is much more, and oh. I´d love to explore!

Ive never been to Mexico but your experience sounds like ours in Fiji. Are you glad you went though?
I'm glad you took Mielebaer and Elmo :)
I would take Meg if I travelled, but I'm mostly a stay-at-home person. I don't even have a passport.
Amy, yes, there were also nice and friendly people :-)
