 Found this critter on a houseboat which could use a little maintenance. One for Saturday Critters here.

Everyone was in good spirits due to the beautiful weather, making it especially pleasant to walk around and photograph.

Monday mural

 Someone is still hard at work adding murals to the entrances and surroundings of the Nieuwmarkt subway station. From me, some color could have been added.

The new university library

 After a complete renovation of several years, the downtown complex of the University of Amsterdam on the former Binnengasthuis site is finally nearing completion. Here the new facade of the library (design Roberto Meyer of buro MVSA in collaboration with buro J.van Stigt). The sentence “just read , it does not say what it says ”from poem Awater by Martinus Nijhoff is used here in the 24 languages taught at the Uva. (Header face on the terrace of cafe De Jaren by the water but it was so crowded that we had sat down next door in the coffee bar of hotel de Doelen. Also an excellent view).

Yes and then of course I had to go too.

 Those decorated bikes are really put up everywhere like here on the lock near the Stromarkt.

Gaper sign

Gapers (yawners) are the symbol used to indicate drugstores in the Netherlands since 170 years. This is a very modern one.

Farewell

 We are now coming to an age when your friends and family start to lose you like here my cousin born 16-02-1941. ( Header as a counterpoint. Ran into these ladies day before yesterday and despite it being only 5° C they were walking around looking quite naked).

She had just turned 26 and decided to celebrate with her boyfriend in Amsterdam coming from Milan. Instead of tackling their iphone I took the now sent photo with my own camera. I think they liked it very much. One for James Weekend Street/Reflections here.

Looking for recipes

 Bookshop Scheltema had in honor of a new special cooking-related corner on the third floor, incl working kitchen for demonstrations, decorated the entire store with cooking attributes. (Header  the Leidsestraat where trams can only pas on the bridges over the canals cruising this street.)

Where did those come from.

 Suddenly very busy on the street.

The birds already have spring in their heads.

 A few minutes ago I saw Dad and Mom blackbird eating the berries in the ivy growing over the fence of our garden, in which they have raised several generations of blackbirds. Haven't seen them together so clearly before.

Operation

 

Yesterday Sofietje and we had a tough day. The vet removed a tumor from her neck and we all hope the best because she is already 15 and a half year. Now she is lying on her favorite spot the windowsill which is heated from below by the radiator and today she also waddled back to her drinking bowl in the kitchen on her own legs to have a drink. She has also eaten some kibble. At least that looks hopeful. One for Saturday Critters here.

Choppy water behind the dike.

 If this dike would break the water would reach to the ceiling of our ground level.

 Always an obstacle along the way and sometimes you can't get around it so just wait.

Sun at last

 Yesterday afternoon in Downtown Almere. The palm trees make it look almost tropical but in reality it was 4° C.

What is happening here

 One real window in this blind facade in Almere. Even the bricks are painted. One for Sami's Colourful World here. Could be that I have placed this one before but am not sure.

 After passing the bridge on the header, you enter Amstelstraat. Here in the evening after a rainstorm.  Always love how that sheen of water makes the city more beautiful.
