It's Friday and Welcome to May

Morning readers,

Well, after the driest April on record (since records began in 1929) it went out with a whimper and ... we even had rain as the calendar turned to .... MAY! Somehow, it made staying home a smidge easier when you looked at dismal rain outside! I am, however, going a little stir crazy cooped up in the house so ... today I'll be joining my pal, Liz, and cousin, Debra, on a video conference call ... we can commiserate with one another as we SHOULD have been in Florida this past two weeks but (for obvious reasons) didn't make it ... oh well, another time perhaps ladies!

This lockdown has meant I've had extra time to spend at the ToC (that's Table of Craftiness) so - I've a make (or two) to share with you today ....
My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White C6/A2, 250gsm card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to fit
  • One piece of amber coloured card, cut to mat
  • Memory Box grid stencil (88517) place over my white card panel and Distress Inks: squeezed lemonade,  applied through the stencil using a makeup brush
  • Removing the grid stencil and replacing with a piece of acetate with a die cut circle I applied Distress Inks: fossilised amber, carved pumpkin and ground espresso (just to the very outer edge)using the same makeup brush
  • Craft Emotions silhouette spray (from 1301501/1143) stamped using Versafine Clair nocturne ink
  • Happy Little Stampers sentiment (from Doodled flowers) stamped using Versafine Clair morning mist ink
  • A light application of Crafters Companion Spray and Shine, to protect those water based inks

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - challenge No. 130 - ANYTHING GOES
  2. Through The Craft Room Door - April 28th challenge - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Lemon Shortbread - challenge No. 118 - ANYTHING GOES
  4. Water Cooler Wednesday - challenge No. 269 - ANYTHING GOES
  5. CraftyCatz - challenge No. 504 - ANYTHING GOES + SENDING HUGS

And now for an Artist Trading Card ... using something I've had in my stash for YEARS and only used a handful of times. I saw the lovely Eileen Godwin using it on a book mark making video recently and it brought it to the forefront of my mind and here's what I made. It was GOING to be on a card but .... I didn't like the way I'd treated the other end so, never one to waste an opportunity I simply cut it down in to an ATC ....

My Artist Trading Card
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of leftover card in intense red and smooth white
  • With my Dutchdoobadoo stencil (470.715.120) in place I sponged Colourcraft Aquawax through the stencil with a piece of cut and dry and set aside to dry
  • Once dry I then went over the entire white snippet using Distress Ink festive berries, using a Tim Holtz mini blender and then carefully wiping the waxed areas, to remove the D.I. and make the aquawax stencilling whiter.
  • Once that was dry I placed my Hero Arts leaf image (from CL-477) in to my MISTI and stamped it a couple of times inking it with Versafine Clair twilight ink .... this still didn't cover the aquawax (lesson learned there ....) so I sprinkled cobalt embossing powder over it, brushing off the excess, before heat setting CAREFULLY so as not to melt the WAX! Another lesson learned there as I overheated the other end .... hence it having to become an ATC!!
  • Stampers Anonymous sentiment (from CMS155) stamped on to a snippet of smooth white card and then die cut in to my banner shape using a WRMK nesting banner die set and adhering to my ARC with dimensional foam tape

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday challenge - SIMON SAYS "USE A STAMP"
  2. Arty Divas - challenge No. 20 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Pammie's Inky Pinkies - challenge No. 2017 - ANYTHING GOES
On my daily walk yesterday I encountered a number of leafy lanes ...

I love the look of the card Kathy with the pretty silhouette and a yellow circle and the graph type stencilling in the background, so pretty, and glad you didn't waste this wonderful aqua waxed piece and made it into an ATC instead, and love the glossy leaves over the top, saved beautifully. x
