Ride The Wild Wind
When I was little the big boys had a "Bonanza"-, or, as you call it Wheelie, muscle bike, high-riser, spyder bike or banana bike.
Mine was orange, too, but... well...
Mural spotted on Ringgleis in Braunschweig.
Did you have one?
I had to learn the hard way. "Training wheels", why ever they are called like that, it´s hard to really learn once they got taken off by your parents.
My Nieces learned on a run bike, much easier!!!
At least I got that man you see in the reflection :-)
And just so you can get rid of an earworm:
Taking part again in Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals.
Addendum. Hubby is home from work, sick (shortly after 09:00 am.) Corona?
Hopefully just a cold. Spring coming, being tired...
(He starts at 06:00 am and has a 40 km-drive one way, just to give you an idea).

Never too late!
LOL, I am too old now!
Die Fahrräder waren damals ganz in, viele Kinder in der Schule hatten sie. Gute Besserung für Ingo. Dir einen schönen Tag, GlG, Valerie
Ja, die waren "in" und ich?! Naja, so isses! "Abgeloost".
Ja, hoffen wir das Beste, kann ja eigentlich Nix sein mit Ingo, ich bin fit.
Dir einen schönen Tag, hier Sonne! GlG, Iris
I have an electric bicycle. Before I had all kinds of bicycles in all colors and shapes ... but now I will not be able to do without this electric model.
Thanks for the beautiful song by Queen.
You made my day more beautiful!
A little BIG HUG!
My bike didn't have the banana seat nor the high handle bars until they became popular and then we did the switch over. I thought it was super cool. Thanks for the memories of being 9 or 10 and riding around on my bike. Stay healthy. Hugs-Erika
Ella :-)
I hope you´re not "one of those" who speed like crazy and scare people off! ;-) I´m a walker now.
Yes, Freddie/Queen make the day!
A little BIG HUG to you! Hope/guess you´re better!

Erika, you´re very welcome. The memory lane is always good on a bike :-)
Hugs, Iris
I remember this style of bike too.
Nice mural Iris, thanks for contributing.
Bikes are every child's dream transport!
I've lost touch with what type of bikes kids are riding now, in place of that banana seat fad. I like the mural, though. Or even if they are still riding bikes as much as in the past. Most of the cycling enthusiasts I know are adults.
best... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I had a similiar bike with the banana seat, they were popular in the 60s. I got mine when I graduated from grade school.
Raining here again, had to go shopping for a few items and it wasn't too bad.
Enjoy your day, Iris.
...I hope that you both stay healthy and safe!
Thank you for hosting, Sami :-)

Magiceye, yes, a bit of freedom!
____
Mae, I turned to walking anyways!
Bill, lucky you!!! With that bike - amd shopping!
Scary how empty the shelves are here! No toilet paper at ALDI....
A nice evening to you, Bill - we should have all we need!
___
Thank you, Tom, I so hope for that, too!
And dito!
I never had a bike like that! Haven't ridden in years now!
A different kind of bike.
I had bike like that...It was called a "sting ray"
The Highriser/banana seat bikes were here in the 70s and my oldest, a girl, got one for her fifth birthday, then when the boy turned five, he wanted a BMX bike, so that's what we got him, and child number three got her own highriser for her fifth birthday. By the time the youngest was five he just rode everyone else's bikes, whichever one was available after he outgrew his mini BMX bike.
William, not popular in your place?
____
Dora: Awwww, wonderful!!!!
____
River, awww, too! And yes. My "little" Brother went for that BMX, too - and he even got one!!! Life is unfair! ;-)
Your youngest must´ve been the very, very luckiest, though!!!
Did you ever ask? Bet you get the biggest kiss!
This is a fun mural. Rick would love it!
You are right Iris, the 'run' bikes are so much better, you don't have that false sense of security that trainer wheels give :) I can't actually remember if I had one, waay to long ago, but I did have a bike when I was at highschool, had to ride miles to get there!
