Elmer Says Happy Birthday

It's been awhile since I played with The Library Challenge so I just had to make a card for Challenge 53 Elmer when I saw The Patchwork Elephant. I remembered I had a template for an elephant that I could use.  I traced the template on a 6"x 6" square of Scor-tape that I have hoarded for a long time. I simply trimmed the elephant and attached roughly cut half inch squares of various colored cardstock to the adhesive on one side of the Scor-tape trimming the edges as I went.  If I had it to do over I'd use larger squares and cut perfect squares-easier to line up.  Added a pink ear, a toothpick tusk, and a googly eye to the elephant.  I simply peeled the backside exposing the adhesive and attached to a textured card base.  Sorry, the square textured finish does not show in the photo but it looks great.  I heat embossed the Gina K Design sentiment using Black ink and Clear EP.  The template was from a Paper Crafts Magazine with Birthday Free Projects that I have had for years.  This was a fun card but it took some time to make.
After looking at the photo, I thought another color would be better for the base but that elephant is really stuck tight.
Challenges:
The Library Challenge: #53 Elmer.  Used all the colors and a patchwork design from the cover.
Always Fun Challenges: #150 Animals
Male Room: #130 Use Embossing. The sentiment is heat embossed.

I am sharing another card that I made with this template in 2013 which was a shaped birthday card:
Have a great day! I love reading your comments. Theresa
