Christmas Wishes
Card Recipe
A "Christmas Wishes" shaped card created with the lovely new 2019 Festive Collection Cutting dies by Sue Wilson, some Vellum and colored with Copic markers for a pretty parchment look.
First step, I die-cut the holly Hayley die-set several times from vellum paper.
Next, adhere cuts (with a strong spray adhesive), randomly onto another vellum piece.
This creates a beautiful textured background sheet that will match the focal die. Don't worry if it looks messy when adhering at first, you will be cutting this sheet down to size anyways.
Now turn over this vellum piece to color on the back side. I used 4 copic colors for coloring the Holly leave openings. Copic colors blend really well and give the illusion of depth.
Cobalt Green Copic YG45, Lime Green G21, Yellow Green YG03, Pale Cobalt Green YG41
Coloring on the back will look messy at first - but don't worry because one you turn this sheet back to its front side, not only will you have the texture of the lovely adhered cuts, but you will also be able to see the soft color tones beneath the vellum like this. At this point, you may add more color for darker, deeper color tones.
Next, run this entire sheet though a die-cutting machine using SW's Octagon Die set to cut out the shape. You may chose to include die-cutting the centers out and adhering here for completing the pretty pattern look, oryou can also choose to leave these out. Both look amazing with this technique.
Next, create an octagon shaped base for the card and die-cut octagon frames in white cardstock to layer onto the Octagon's card front. This gives it a nice finishing frame.
Now, create the focal Hayley Holly piece by die-cutting and layering multiple vellum cuts of the Hayley shape. Then bend the leaves at the tips for dimension. Pop-up finished piece with foam tape.
I chose to color-in the bottom layered cuts for an extra pop of color and look of depth.
This is a close up - using the same 4 green comic marker shades.
The sentiment is a Sue Wilson 2019 Festive Collection FC Mini Expressions "Christmas Wishes" . I have die-cut this out of white carsdstock and layered it 4 times for depth. It is then placed over the die-cut pierced flags - also by Sue Wilson.
The only additions are the silver flat-back gems as finishing touches.
That's to! Hope you will give this idea a try!
