Beautiful Mystery Cat #WordlessWednesday

Any guesses what breed this cat is?

This 13 year old cat, owned by someone we know, is possibly the friendliest cat I've ever experienced, coming right up to people, asking to be petted.  Doesn't eat plants.  Doesn't rip up furniture.  I met him or her (I forgot which!) for the first time on Saturday.  They also told me the weight, which I forgot.

But this cat's servants don't know the cat's breed.

I did not take measurements and, unfortunately, this picture doesn't show the tail.

My cat identifier function on my iPhone guesses either Norwegian forest cat or Maine Coon Cat.

My dear cat loving friends:  any guesses?

Today I am joining up with other Music Moves Me bloggers (and you can join us at the linky above). We are a group of music loving bloggers who blog about music each Sunday or Monday (or even later in the week). If you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please! Otherwise, your post link may be labeled "No Music" or even removed.

Our head host is Xmas Dolly, and our co-hosts are Cathy from Curious as a Cathy, joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked and, last but not least, me.

Every other week we have a theme.  This week's theme is "Shades of Green".  Although we don't have much green where I live, at least the ground isn't covered with snow.  So for my flavors of green, here are my selections.

Let's start with a singer, Al Green, and his biggest hit.  From 1972, here is Let's Stay Together.

A group name:  Green Day, with their 2004 hit Boulevard of Broken Dreams.  I love this song.

Creedence Clearwater Revival and Green River, from 1969.

Green Tambourine, a 1967-68 hit from The Lemon Pipers.

Finally, from 1975, The Outlaws with Green Grass & High Tides.  I love this song.

And before I go, here's a photo I shared yesterday that fits this theme exactly.  This really is the time of year where you look for green everywhere.

And that's a wrap!

St. Patricks Day Shadow #ShadowshotSunday

A St. Patrick's Day display at a local restaurant.

Is it too early to celebrate?  Our area's St. Patrick's Day parade was yesterday, so I would say "no".

Changeable March Skies #SkywatchFriday

I was in the right place at the right time to catch the clouds right after a strong cold front came through on Saturday.

Just a few minutes before it had been warm, meaning in the upper 40's.  When I came out of a store with a friend, this is what greeted us.
Wind blowing, and snow flurries (not visible) coming down reminded us how quickly the weather can change in March.

But a couple of days later, Nature was in a better mood.  You gotta love March.

February Flowers #WordlessWednesday

Flowers in February aren't unknown here.

I had seen buds on my early Lenten Rose in late December.  They were buried under snow.  So when the weather moderated a week or so ago, and the snow melted, I went out into my back yard.

I took these photos on February 28.

White Lenten Rose.

Last day of February.

Tributes to Roberta Flack and Gene Hackman #MusicMovesMe

It's Monday and it's time for music.

Every other week we have a theme.  This week's theme is "You Pick".  Sadly, today, I pick a new inductee into Rock and Roll Heaven.  Our honoree today is Roberta Flack, who passed away February 24 at the age of 88 from cardiac arrest, In 2002 she revealed she was suffering from ALS, which had taken away her voice.

Her first hit, and perhaps the song she is most famous for, was The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.  I have to admit that, for some reason, this has never been my favorite Roberta Flack song so I am going to pick three others.

Killing Me Softly with His Song, from 1973, was a cover of a 1972 song written for singer Lori Liebermann.  Ms. Liebermann states the song was written about fellow singer Don McLean.

(For those interested, here is the original, which did not chart.)

Where Is The Love?, a 1972 duet with Donny Hathaway.

Feel Like Making Love, from 1974.

I also wanted to pay tribute to actor Gene Hackman, who was discovered dead in his Santa Fe, New Mexico home in February, 2025 at age 95 along with his musician wife Betsy Arakawa and their dog.  What a tragedy in so many ways.  At the time of my writing this post, the cause(s) were still under investigation.

Gene Hackman appeared in at least 72 movies, including The French Connection, Bonnie and Clyde, The Birdcage, and The Royal Tenenbaums. While I don't have any You Tube videos of Gene singing, I found a couple of related songs - sort of.  This is not a soft rock song but it does pay tribute to Gene - here are the Hoodoo Gurus, with a song called....Gene Hackman.

And that's a wrap.

Join me again next week for another episode of Music Moves Me.  Hopefully, next week's post is happier.

Northern Cardinal #ShadowshotSunday

The sun came out on Wednesday.

Enjoy this male Northern Cardinal contemplating some nearby shadows.  No, really, he was singing.  After all, spring is nearly here.

Well, maybe, as we are back in the freezer today.  But it was good while it lasted.
